Hello! I’m Jennifer, Jen, Miss Jenny, Principle, and I’m proud to say that this is my dance school...

WELCOME!

I’m originally from Catford South East London, but have recently in 2026 moved to Bedford with my little boy Frankie.

JYSDANCE Bedford coming soon!

I started dancing at the age of 5 doing ballet and tap. While working my way up the grades, my Mum took me to my dance lessons religiously on the 284 bus every week, Catford to Crofton, for probably a decade.

I then took up dance at Lewisham College; first completing A-Level Dance, then a foundation course in ballet, contemporary and jazz. This was alongside regular street dance classes at Pineapple Dance Studios. Sadly, the opportunity to train at a vocational university never aligned for me, but I continued dancing recreationally up through my twenties - even when I didn’t quite know what I was doing with my life (and for most of that time, I really didn’t!).

At 27 I decided to go back into education, gaining my qualifications to teach ballet and modern theatre through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. It was the best thing I ever did…

I now work within the profession that was my first and only real passion as a young person. I teach, I choreograph, I lead, I manage, I work musically and mathematically, rhythmically and think critically. I work with children of all ages, teenagers, and some fabulous adults too! I

continue to learn through CPD, through experiences, but mostly I learn best through the students I have worked with over the last 14 years.

The moral of my story is this - you don’t need to start out as Darcey Bussell! Our doors will always be open to anyone who's curious to welcome the beauty of dancing into their life.  All you need is passion, consistency, and someone who has your back throughout the journey!

And parents, that’s exactly where you come in.

My Mum… 284 bus… every week, without fail.

Sometimes the bus never came, sometimes it was late, and sometimes  I didn't feel like going! But my Mum continued to encourage me, shaping me into the Miss Jenny I am today - a passionate teacher, dance artist and educator.

Dancing is where I feel at home, unlike the school classroom that I struggled in... I am proudly and beautifully neurodiverse, chaotic and complex, but simple in so many other ways. In the dance studio I feel safe and seen.

My small team of dance colleagues are able to support me, especially as I grapple new motherhood, and it’s a magnificent thing.

So there’s my story. No crazy credentials, big jobs,  names or companies, just a human who loves to move through music. I always have and always will! Our school ethos says - 'DANCE IS FOR LIFE' and I believe that comes in discipline, in celebration, in sorrow and in love.

So here we are! Welcome to our school!

And thank you Mumma-

Hello! I'm Miss Alicia and I teach across both sites at JYSDANCE, as well as having an admin role within the school.

I started dancing as a little 3 year old in a pink tutu, and haven't looked back since! After spending my childhood progressing through the ISTD ballet, tap and modern syllabi, I went on to train professionally at Italia Conti Arts Centre from 2018-2021. Here I gained my Level 6 Diploma in Musical Theatre, as well as my ISTD Diploma in Dance Education.

After graduation, I enjoyed a colourful career as a professional dancer and performer. Some of my favourite credits include dancing on the parades at Disneyland Paris, playing Princess Jasmine and Princess Aurora in various UK touring pantomimes, and getting creative in the recording booth for voice over and character work!

Having transitioned over to teaching full time, I can confidently say that I absolutely adore my job and the joy it brings both myself and the students. I strive to bring the best out of every learner, and work with them to reach their full potential. I want to encourage a generation of strong, happy, confident dancers. Dancers who try their best, work hard, but definitely have fun!

I look forward to seeing you in the studio!

Hi, I'm Miss Daisy and I teach on Fridays at JYSDANCE!

I began my dance journey at just 3 years old, enjoying all different styles of movement and music. I later went on to train professionally at London Studio Centre, completing a 3 year dance degree with specialism in ballet and contemporary dance.

Since graduating, I have performed in several touring shows, as well as appearing in TV and film. Some of my credits include 'House of the Dragon', 'Rebecca' and 'Slow Horses'.

I have been teaching ballet, tap and modern for a number of years, as well as contemporary dance and acrobatics. My close work with the English National Ballet as an associate artist has developed my passion for classical movement even further, and I hope to encourage my students to share the love of ballet with me in our classes!

I have also had the opportunity to guest teach at vocational performance colleges such as Urdang and Liverpool Media Arts, choreographing and working with a range of ambitious dancers.

All of these wonderful experiences have broadened my working knowledge as a teacher and given me invaluable practical time in the studio working with young people across the country. I'm thrilled to be apart of the JYSDANCE team, and to be bringing the love of movement and dancing to all!
